I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was the groom and you guys catered both our rehearsal dinner and wedding! First the food was amazing for both events we had bbq fair for the rehearsal and steak and chicken for the wedding. Both meals were outstanding, all our guests are still talking about it. The staff was very professional punctual and flawless with their execution of both events. The presentation of the food was amazing and fit in with our fall theme. Thanks for an amazing wedding!

Interesting restaurant that has good food and an interesting set up. The tri tip is good as are the sides and other meats. I found it a bit pricy but that is just me. The ladies are extremely nice and they can handle a grill with the best of them.

The food is simply amazing. I grew up in California and go back there a lot. They told me they were inspired to do this from the weekend bbq's on the streets that are common in towns like Santa Maria. They are spot on. The tri tip is simply amazing. I've always loved tri tip, but this is really the best tri tip I've ever had. They pick the right meat and cook it amazingly. Words cannot explain how great it tastes. The rest of the menu is great as well! I've been craving linguiça forever (a portuguese sausage also common in california). It is as good as I remember, and maybe even better! I love this place and it is unfortunate that they're only open on Saturdays. I would eat here every day if I could!

Buffal Gals catered our daughters wedding in Woodland Park this weekend. The food was amazing and the staff was fantastic. We heard rave reviews about the barbecue all evening. The best compliment we heard is that the food didn't taste like wedding fare. They brought the barbecue on site to do a Santa Maria tri-tip with pulled chicken and fabulous sides--try the freshly grilled corn on the cob. They ride a captain on site to manage the event. Heather worked well with ur DJ and everything was seamless . Great value. Lauren is a fantastic planner who helped us add personal touches --definitely a five star experience

I come from one of the first ranch families in Santa Maria that's been serving up tri-tip for as long as anyone can remember. And I grew up (until I left for college) in Santa Maria on the street just past the Broadway-Stowell intersection, which is where the street BBQs started on Saturday mornings. So, every Saturday we'd smell the grills going from the minute we woke up and always stopped at one if Dad wasn't planning to BBQ* that evening. For family gatherings, we'd fire up several grills and BBQ tri-tip straight from my uncle's ranch. I've been doing my own tri-tip since my Dad taught me how to light a grill when I was 16. And when I moved to Virginia for college, I'd have to tell the butchers how to cut it. Now, it's much more common, and I can usually find it in the grocery store. I make tri-tip about once every other week when the weather is nice. So, when I saw this place on Yelp, of course I had to try it. Long preface, but you get the idea. I take my tri-tip pretty seriously. Location: They primarily cater from this location, but open it up to customers on Saturdays (10-4). It's in a small strip mall with a yellow banner on 8th street that says "New West BBQ." You'll smell it before you see it though. There are three round tables inside if you're planning to eat it there. It's certainly nothing fancy, but it's what's inside that counts. Food: I ordered the tri-tip plate with linguisa, and my husband got the tri-tip sandwich. - Tri-tip: The tri-tip was well seasoned and cooked. They do it authentically -- which I don't take for granted anymore since a lot of people add BBQ sauce to it. Which really just makes it tri-tip -- not Santa Maria style. Santa Maria style is just using a dry rub of granulated garlic, salt, pepper -- and if you want to get fancy like Suzy Q's -- dried parsley and BBQing it over oak (preferably red). It was a perfect medium/medium-rare (any more done and it gets tough). They do serve it with a side of BBQ sauce; however, they have homemade salsa if you ask for it -- which is how we eat it at home. I'd never even heard of BBQ sauce on tri-tip while I was still living in Santa Maria, but my family may've just been purists. - Sandwich: It wasn't on the menu, but my husband knows of these because he always gets one the day after I make tri-tip because it's what I do with the leftovers. They make them, if you just ask. And they're perfect for the person who doesn't like medium rare meat because the meat is a little more well done. They use a ton of meat and pile it onto the grill bread. It's served with a side of beans. - Linguisa: The linguisa was perfect -- juicy and spicy. If you've never had it, try it. It's sooo good. And if you're with someone, make them get their own because they will eat yours. - Salad: It comes with a salad. Normally, all the salads at the street vendors were the same -- that iceburg mix with ranch dressing, and if they were getting fancy you'd get a tomato and a cucumber. BGB's is definitely elevated. It's a spring mix with jicama (like a less tart, less sweet apple), tomatoes, mandarin oranges with a vinaigrette. Refreshing and light, it pairs well with everything else. - Beans: This was the one thing I wasn't thrilled with, but they weren't bad by any stretch. They use a tri-bean mix with molasses with bacon, so they're really sweet. The way I always had them growing up was spicy -- usually pinquito beans with chiles and tomatoes and other seasonings. They have a really smokey, spicy taste to them. I think this is why I never jumped on the southern bean train when I was in Virginia. Just not my style, but my husband devoured both of ours. Bread: They grill it which is what matters! Some SM vendors would do sourdough (usually from the neighboring city's San Luis Sourdough shop) and others french. But it always had garlic butter on it and was grilled over the oak. Other: They also serve sodas, beer and wine. Definitely go if you love meat in general. I'm sure the rest of their menu is great, too! Can't wait to go back and bring my Santa Maria family with me! *I never knew the rest of the country differentiated BBQing and grilling. As it's since been explained to me, BBQing involves sauce and grilling doesn't. But in Santa Maria, our BBQ is grilling so we use them interchangeably.

Lauren and Crew just catered a Halloween Hog Roast for me that was the absolute best party I have ever put together! We had over 100 guests, and the food, tent, tables and chairs could not have been any better. Lauren booked The Buckstein Band, and my guests loved them. They danced the night away! I have thrown many parties, but this one rises to the top! These folks are absolutely a 1st Class organization! Lauren even saw to it that I got a plate of food, as I was extremely engaged with my guests. If you are throwing a party, and want to actually enjoy yourself, call Lauren immediately. Thanks again to the entire Buffalo Gals staff! You are the best of the best!!!!

This is one of our favorite spots for a Saturday lunch. Large tasty portions of tri tip, tasty BBQ chicken, baked beans, and salad make for a great lunch. There are only four tables so you may have to just takeout.

Stopped in because we were driving by and there was a guy outside bbq'ing meat in their parking lot - well, that and we were hungry. Catering bbq is their thing but they have a small room for eat in and take out. Sat in their catering business room - 3 tables and a deli counter, One other couple sampling the wares for a party. Then they brought out samples of their desserts - pictures to follow. Fine looking fare. I got the tri-tips, hub got the linguica - my bad. Could've wrestled him to the ground for that sausage - better than most. My sandwich was on Blue Point Bakery bread and it was delish. I see a bad Yelp on Blue Point but that's never been my experience with their food. Great idea for a catered party for sure but I think they could have a full time eat-in biz.
